Taking Action Before Disaster Strikes

It seems lately, that natural disasters and pandemics are occurring with more frequency and intensity. Over the past decade, floods, earthquakes, fires, mudslides, tornadoes, and hurricanes have caused millions of dollars in loss and damages; and pandemic medical emergencies have recently shutdown global economies. While you can't prevent a natural disaster or pandemic from occurring, you can help minimize its impact on your company's operational and financial sustainability, by being prepared. In order to be prepared, you must develop plans and processes for mitigation, contingency and recovery.

Start by asking yourself — "Can all or part of my business cease to exist for one day or more? Can my business survive the financial disaster of a temporary or permanent shutdown?" If the answer to these questions is probably (or definitely) not, it underscores how important disaster mitigation, recovery, and contingency planning are for you, your business, and your stakeholders.
